Frequently Asked Questions about Paper Orders

How do I order the paper version of the OELPS?

The district or school places the order for the OELPS paper-pencil, large-print and braille tests by emailing the Office of Assessment at statetests@education.ohio.gov.

How do I order the paper version of the OELPA?

The district or school places the order for the OELPA paper-pencil, large-print and braille tests in TIDE. See the OELPA Test Coordinator Manual for more information.

What are the eligibility requirements for paper testing?

Both the OELPS and OELPA are online tests, with paper accommodated forms available for approved reasons. The reasons that allow the use of a paper format are:

  1. the student has an IEP or 504 plan that documents the paper accommodation for the OELPS or OELPA;
  2. a cultural or religious reason that prevents the student using the online format; or
  3. the district or school does not have the technology to provide online testing.

Is Ohio Department of Education approval necessary for paper orders?

Yes. For both the OELPS and OELPA, the district or school should include with the paper test order the quantity and the reason why the student requires the paper format. If the district or school does not give an allowable reason, the Department will not approve the request.
